Islamabad: Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal has emphasized the importance of adopting the latest technology to address the issues of water scarcity and food insecurity. Addressing a conference in Islamabad on Monday, he termed climate change as the biggest challenge for Pakistan, saying that the urgency of the situation demands that the country move beyond political distractions.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ahsan Iqbal highlighted that Pakistan has the least footprint in global carbon emissions but is at the receiving end of climate disasters. He underscored the government’s efforts to tackle the multifaceted challenges to the country’s irrigation system, noting that the government has allocated 12.2 percent of the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) to water resources in the current fiscal year despite economic challenges.
