Islamabad: Analysts have commended the government's firm position on the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, highlighting its adherence to a principled stance on the issue of Palestine. Amb. A M Shahid, a former diplomat, emphasized the significance of Pakistan's stance, pointing out that Israel's attempts to annex the West Bank, recognized by the UN and Pakistan as Palestinian territory, have been met with a strong response from Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister. Shahid also noted the increase in terrorist activities in Pakistan following the Taliban's rise to power in Afghanistan, attributing this to the Taliban's support of terror outfits. The former diplomat stated that Pakistan has been left with no choice but to conduct strikes against these terrorist groups.According to Radio Pakistan, another former diplomat, Amb. Waheed Ahmad, discussed the U.S.-led initiative of the Board of Peace, which aims to pressure Israel into accepting a two-state solution. Ahmad expressed skepticism about the effectiveness of this initiative, as Israel continues to resist international pressure and expand its occupation over Palestinian territories. He noted that despite efforts by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and other entities, Israel remains unwavering in its expansionist agenda. Ahmad emphasized the need for continued global pressure on Israel to achieve lasting peace in the region and praised Pakistan for its consistent support of the Palestinian cause and opposition to Israeli occupation.
