Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has expressed felicitations to the newly elected office bearers in the annual elections of Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors.In his message, he congratulated President Irshad Ahmed Arif, Secretary General Ejazul Haque, Senior Vice President Anwar Sajdi and other elected officials.Terming the CPNE as the custodian of remarkable journalistic traditions in the country, he said that it has played an active role in promoting democracy and upholding journalistic values.Attaullah Tarar said that freedom of expression is an essential constitutional requirement for strong democracy.The Minister said that the government has always kept the solution of media problems in its priorities.Attaullah Tarar expressed hoped that the newly elected office bearers will meet the expectations of the journalism community and work for the overall improvement of the journalism sector and the welfare of the media industry.Source: Radio Pakistan
