Lahore: The 116th death anniversary of renowned Urdu writer of the Subcontinent, Maulana Muhammad Hussain Azad, is being observed today. He was a significant figure in Urdu literature, remembered primarily for his contributions to prose.

According to Radio Pakistan, Maulana Hussain Azad's literary legacy includes notable works such as "Ab-e-Hayat," "Darbar-e-Akbari," and "Nairang e Khayal." Although he also composed poetry, his prose remains the most celebrated aspect of his contributions to Urdu literature.

Maulana Hussain Azad passed away in Lahore on this day in 1910, at the age of eighty. His works continue to influence and inspire scholars and readers of Urdu literature.
