Islamabad: The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council has approved 13 development projects worth over 1.275 trillion rupees across key sectors, including transport, communications, railways, space technology, and public infrastructure. The ECNEC meeting, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, took place in Islamabad and resulted in the approval of projects aimed at enhancing the nation’s economic framework.

According to Radio Pakistan, the projects include initiatives for economic transformation in Gilgit-Baltistan with a focus on poverty alleviation, as well as flood rehabilitation efforts in Sindh designed to restore essential infrastructure. These developments are part of a broader strategy to bolster the country’s resilience and improve living standards.

Among the approved projects are Pakistan Railways’ procurement of high-capacity wagons and passenger coaches, which is expected to enhance the efficiency of the national railway system. Additionally, the approval of the Optical Remote Sensing Satellite project marks a significant step forward in Pakistan’s space technology capabilities. Several major road projects have also been endorsed, aiming to improve inter-provincial connectivity and facilitate smoother transport.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to sustainable development and economic transformation, underlining the importance of these projects in achieving long-term growth and infrastructure improvement across the country.
