Islamabad: Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening long-term economic and technical cooperation with China. He conveyed this commitment during discussions with Yi Jiang, the Secretary General of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister briefed the Chinese delegation on ongoing and future projects, highlighting an agreement with the Asian Development Bank for the Karachi-Rohri section. He also discussed potential cooperation with China on the Rohri-Peshawar, Nokundi-Gwadar, and ML-2 Attock-Rohri railway tracks.
Hanif Abbasi emphasized that Pakistan Railways is open to business-to-business cooperation and joint ventures under the Build-Operate-Transfer model. He noted that Chinese investment could significantly enhance the infrastructure, speed, and efficiency of Pakistan’s railway system.
The Chinese delegation expressed appreciation for Pakistan Railways’ reform efforts. Both parties agreed to expand cooperation in areas such as technical training, modern systems, and logistics development. They also explored investment and partnership opportunities in the railway sector.
