Pakistan Dominates Afghanistan to Claim UAE T20I Tri-Series Title

Sharjah: Pakistan have won the ‘UAE T20I Tri-Series’, beating Afghanistan by 75 runs in the final in Sharjah tonight. Batting first, Pakistan posted a total of 141 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

According to Radio Pakistan, Afghanistan’s batting line-up collapsed totally and could only manage to score 66 runs in 15.5 overs. Mohammad Nawaz, who took five wickets, was declared Player of the Match.

Brussels: The EU announced an additional £14 million in support to the people of Afghanistan, boosting its partnership with the United Nations. This new funding will expand the Afghanistan Community Resilience Programme (ACRP), which is implemented by the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) will now also join the program. In addition, the EU’s partnership with UN Women will be further reinforced.

Jeddah: Undersea cable cuts in the Red Sea disrupted internet access in parts of Asia and the Middle East, experts said, though it wasn’t immediately clear what caused the incident. There has been concern about the cables being targeted in a Red Sea campaign by Houthis, which the group describes as an effort to pressure Israel to end its genocidal war on Gaza. However, the Houthis have denied attacking the lines in the past. It blamed failures affecting the SMW4 and IMEWE cable systems near Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
