ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has expressed its support for a United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) resolution demanding an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza. The resolution also calls for the lifting of restrictions against the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and its aid operations in the region.According to Radio Pakistan, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch emphasized the country's call for an immediate halt to hostilities in Palestine, an end to what it describes as genocide in Gaza, and the protection of civilians and infrastructure. Baloch also urged for unrestricted humanitarian access and full support for UNRWA's humanitarian activities. She called for international accountability for Israel's actions in the occupied territories.Addressing the situation in Syria, Baloch noted Pakistan's concern over escalating violence and its support for a comprehensive solution. She affirmed Pakistan's backing for Syria's sovereignty and terri torial integrity, stressing that the future of Syria should be determined by its people without foreign interference. Baloch reiterated support for an inclusive political process based on UN Security Council Resolution 2254.Regarding the evacuation of Pakistani nationals from Syria, Baloch reported that the Foreign Affairs Ministry and Pakistani missions in Syria and Lebanon facilitated the crossing of approximately 475 Pakistanis, including 250 Zaireen, into Lebanon. They are expected to return to Islamabad from Beirut shortly. She expressed gratitude to Lebanon for its assistance in ensuring safe passage.On the issue of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, Baloch called on India to cease the suppression of Kashmiri rights. She reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to supporting the Kashmiri people's right to self-determination as outlined by UN Security Council resolutions, pledging continued political, diplomatic, and moral support.
