Provincial Disaster Management authorities of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have issued alerts for heavy rains and dusty winds in different districts from tonight to Saturday.In a statement today, Director General Punjab Disaster Management Authority Irfan Ali Kathia said standing crops are feared to be damaged by the storms.The DG urged the people to stay in safe places to avoid lightning and in case of emergency contact PDMA Helpline 1129 or Rescue 1122.Meanwhile, according to PDMA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, all the Deputy Commissioners have been advised to take precautionary measures to avoid any human and material losses during the forecast period.The Authority also advised all the relevant departments to stay alert for restoring road links for traffic in concerned districts.The control room of PDMA is operational round the clock and people can contact by dialing 1700 in case of any emergency.Source: Radio Pakistan
