Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has been awarded an honorary PhD degree in Leadership and Governance by the International Islamic University, Malaysia (IIUM). At a ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, Queen of the Malaysian state of Pahang and the constitutional head of the International Islamic University Malaysia, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah conferred the honorary degree upon the Prime Minister.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister expressed his privilege in receiving the honorary doctorate from this esteemed institution. He conveyed his confidence that the academic partnerships and collaborations between International Islamic University Malaysia and Pakistan’s leading institutions will continue to strengthen.
Shehbaz Sharif highlighted his commitment to serving the people with sincerity and dedication. He stated that leadership is not a privilege but a sacred trust to be exercised with honesty, sincerity, justice, and accountability before Allah Almighty.
The Prime Minister also addressed the challenges faced by the Muslim Ummah, emphasizing the importance of adhering to values and ethics guided by Islamic principles to reclaim a respected position in the international community.
Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah praised the vision and leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. She highlighted his focus on education, healthcare, and opportunities, particularly mentioning the Punjab education endowment fund initiative, which opened educational opportunities for many.
She also noted the strong relationship between Pakistan and Malaysia, which has grown under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
In a post on his X handle, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif described his experience in Malaysia as humbling, expressing that the honorary degree is a symbol of the deep intellectual and cultural ties between Pakistan and Malaysia.
