Punjab: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has introduced body-worn cameras for the police field force aimed at ensuring transparent and technology-driven policing.

According to Radio Pakistan, the body-worn cameras are expected to strengthen the monitoring of police operations and help prevent corruption while promoting transparency in policing. The initiative is part of a broader effort to integrate technology into law enforcement practices.

The body-worn cameras will be linked with Smart Safe City systems established in 43 cities across Punjab. This integration will enable live monitoring through the respective district Safe City control rooms, providing real-time insights into police activities and ensuring accountability.

Personnel from various units, including the Punjab Police, Punjab Highway Patrol, Dolphin Force, and traffic wardens, will wear the cameras while performing their duties. This move represents a significant step towards enhancing the effectiveness and transparency of policing across the province.
