Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched Pakistan's first-ever government-run dead body transfer service.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Chief Minister inaugurated the service by handing over keys to vehicles designed for transferring bodies in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan. She engaged with rescue personnel during the event, commending their dedication and encouraging them to perform their duties with compassion and a commitment to public service.

In its initial phase, the service will transport bodies from government hospitals in Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi to homes without any charges. Plans are in place to extend this service to all Tehsils across Punjab by June.
