Lahore: EOC Coordinator and Head of the Punjab Polio Eradication Programme, Adeel Tasawur, has announced that Punjab is preparing to launch the National Polio Immunization Days (NIDs) campaign starting from Monday, February 2. The campaign aims to immunize over 17.8 million children under the age of five, marking a significant step in Pakistan's efforts to halt poliovirus transmission.According to Radio Pakistan, the campaign will extend for seven days in Lahore, while the remaining districts in the province will see a four-day immunization drive. Over 200,000 trained frontline polio workers will be mobilized across Punjab to ensure comprehensive coverage, making sure that every eligible child receives the polio vaccine during the campaign.Adeel Tasawur emphasized the importance of parental trust and community involvement in the success of the polio eradication initiative. He highlighted the crucial role of the media in dispelling misinformation and bolstering public confidence in the vaccination efforts.He further explained that the campaign is supported by data-driven microplanning, which utilizes surveillance findings and population movement patterns to ensure that no child is overlooked in the immunization process.
