ISLAMABAD: Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, has reinforced the government's commitment to aiding cotton growers and enhancing the role of the Pakistan Central Cotton Committee (PCCC) as a pivotal institution in the cotton sector. This declaration came during the 90th meeting of the PCCC's Governing Body held in Islamabad.According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting focused on pressing issues related to the cotton cess and the restructuring of the PCCC to rejuvenate its operations. Minister Hussain expressed grave concerns about the prolonged delays in resolving disputes concerning the cotton cess, which have persisted for the past eight years. These delays have significantly hindered the efficiency of the PCCC and its contributions to national cotton research and development.In response to these challenges, the meeting proposed immediate actions to address the cess issue, recover outstanding dues, and restore the financial stability of the PCCC. These measures aim to rev italize the committee's operations and solidify its role in advancing the country's cotton sector.
