Bandar seri begawan: The Syariah Court, marking its 25th anniversary, inaugurated the Syariah Courts Open Day 2026, highlighting its commitment to justice grounded in Syara' Law and existing legal provisions. Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Awang Haji Salim bin Haji Besar, Chief Syar'ie Judge, emphasized the significant advancements made over the years during the event's opening ceremony.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the Chief Syar'ie Judge noted the expanded jurisdiction of the Syariah Court, particularly following the enforcement of the Syariah Penal Code, Chapter 275, and the Syariah Courts Criminal Procedure Code, Chapter 224. These enhancements have increased the court's prominence among both regional and international legal practitioners and diplomats. The court has also focused on improving services, case management, and integrating digital technology to enhance service delivery.

The Chief Syar'ie Judge officiated the opening of the Syariah Courts Open Day. The event also saw the launch of a book commemorating the Silver Jubilee of the Syariah Courts. Taking place at the Brunei High Court and Syariah Courts Building in Bandar Seri Begawan, the two-day Open Day offers various activities, including interactive exhibitions, information sessions, and service clinics. The public is invited to attend from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
