Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and world over today observed Black Day to send a powerful message to India and the international community that they vehemently reject New Delhi’s illegal occupation of their homeland.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the call for the observance of Black Day and the shutdown has been given by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and is supported by various other organizations.

Posters displayed by the APHC and other pro-freedom groups, characterize October 27, 1947, as the darkest chapter in the history of Jammu and Kashmir.

The messages have also been widely shared on social media platforms, including X, Facebook, and WhatsApp, amplifying calls for solidarity and resistance.

It was on this day in 1947 that Indian troops invaded Jammu and Kashmir in blatant violation of the Partition Plan and occupied the region against the will of the Kashmiri people.

A report released by Research Section of Kashmir Media Service on Black Day today said Indian troops hav
e martyred over four hundred thousand Kashmiris since October 27, 1947 till date.

It said over three point five million Kashmiris were forced to migrate to Azad Kashmir, Pakistan and other parts of the world.

Meanwhile, in a statement, All Parties Hurriyat Conference has reiterated its principled stance that Kashmir dispute needs to be resolved as per aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

On the other hand, Indian troops resumed a massive search operation in Gulmarg and Baramulla districts
