World Post Day is being observed today.
The event was declared by the 1969 Universal Postal Congress in Tokyo as a means to mark the anniversary of the Universal Postal Union’s creation in 1874.
The purpose of World Post Day is to bring awareness to the post’s role in the everyday lives of people and businesses, as well as its contribution to global social and economic development.
This year the theme of the day is ‘150 years of enabling communication and empowering peoples across nation’.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Post has decided to organize various programs to highlight the importance of this day and the services of the institution.
In addition to the flag hoisting ceremony at Rawalpindi GPO at 10 am, there will be an exhibition of stamps.
