Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has extended appreciation to all women diplomats of Pakistan, saying their contribution remains part of an ongoing national effort to engage the world with seriousness, discipline, and purpose.
According to Radio Pakistan, in his message on the occasion of International Day of Women in Diplomacy today (Wednesday), he paid tribute to the women who served with distinction in advancing dialogue, understanding, and cooperation among nations.
Highlighting the long record of women in contributing to diplomacy and public life, Asif Ali Zardari mentioned Begum Ra'ana Liaquat Ali Khan, who represented Pakistan abroad in its early years with dignity and distinction. He noted that her contributions laid the groundwork for future generations of women in diplomacy.
He also recognized Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto as the first woman Prime Minister in the Muslim world, who expanded Pakistan's international engagement and strengthened its place in global forums. Her leadership remains an inspiration for women seeking roles in public service and international diplomacy.
The President expressed Pakistan's commitment to ensuring equal opportunity for women in public service, emphasizing the importance of their roles in shaping both national and international landscapes.
